  • 30-May-2014 - Don McKenzie receives E. E. Vines Award

Stream Manager Director Don McKenzie has been awarded the 2014 E. E. Vines Award by The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.

First established in 1956 to commemorate the first Secretary of the Australian Insurance Institute – Mr Ernest Edward Vines – the E. E. Vines award celebrates the most meritorious article published by an Institute member in The Journal.

Don’s article Innovation: Ideas are not enough! was selected as “a shining example of academic and professional insight into innovation”.

Mr McKenzie said he was thrilled that his article had been chosen as the recipient of the E. E. Vines Award this year.

“Innovation is at the core of everything we do at Stream and Cerno, and it’s something I am extremely passionate about,” Mr McKenzie said.

“But there is no point innovating for the sake of it – there must always be a focus on improving outcomes for clients.

“That’s at the heart of the Nexus program we have introduced to improve claim management at Cerno – finding a better way to deliver our services.”

Some of the key points from Mr McKenzie’s article include:

    • Innovation must focus on creating value.
    • Innovation doesn’t just occur by accident – it must be driven by processes within and organisation.
    • Innovation is more than just lightning in a bottle – it takes time, resources and organisational commitment.
    • New innovations must me evaluated.
